I was raised in low income housing in the 70's.  I was chosen for desegregation busing to promote racial integration in the early 80's. My parents took full advantage of this opportunity and instilled in me the belief that I would someday go to college and become anything I set my mind to.  I eventually graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1997.  I was the first child in the history of our family to receive a college degree.  I have been tutoring since the early 2000's and I tutor out of a pure love of math and our kids.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.

I started tutoring exit-level mathematics back in 2010.  My daughter came home one day and told me that there were dozens of kids in her class who were being denied graduation, because they couldn't pass the math portion of their exit-level exam.  I had no idea of the true magnitude of the situation until I put an ad in the local newspaper offering tutoring assistance and the first student's mom called.  We literally had only one month before the next scheduled testing and I was determined not to allow this child to become yet another small town statistic.  My daughter was an honors student who was familiar with graphing calculator shortcuts and "new math."  I was an old school mom who didn't understand why the schools made math  so unnecessarily complicated.  So we joined forces and tagged teamed the tutoring experience!  We brought him from 7th grade comprehension to exit-level comprehension in a little over a month and he passed for the first time ever after working with us.  From that moment on, I was an exit-level tutoring addict!  That kid was the star of our high school football team and had several friends in the same boat.  So he told them, they told others, and our signature MathIntensity method was born.  Our backs were against the wall with every student, so we had no choice but to be intense in our methods!  Every student we helped that year passed with above average scores the very next time they took the test!  From our humble beginnings until now, we treat every level, elementary and beyond, as if our backs are against the wall... because they still are.
