"So... Tell us about MathIntensity"

Building Foundations

We help struggling students regain their self-confidence by rebuilding their math foundation one concept at a time

We teach old school math typically in a one-on-one highly concentrated environment.  We step in when students have all but given up.  We  do this by rebuilding their math foundation, going back as far as necessary, at a pace most beneficial to them.   We empower them to excel and reach their full potential in ways they never thought possible, thereby, helping them regain their previously impacted self-confidence and alleviate those overwhelming frustrations from math anxiety. Then, we ingrain them with tools for math success from that point forward.

Whatever It Takes

That sometimes means starting from scratch...

Depending on the student's individual needs and grade level, we, typically, have highly focused and intense tutoring sessions at least twice a week, which is outside of the norm, but highly effective. We go back to math basics (past concepts students need in order to understand what they're learning today). Oftentimes, we're even forced to go back to elementary mathematics, and that's ok... even expected. We fill in the gaps that the schools assumed they'd already mastered, then advance them forward at their own pace. We've been helping students this way, since 2010, and have experienced tremendous success with every child who has entered our program.

How We're Different

We're not just a band-aid...

  • We are not just a band-aid... We focus on building an indestructible math foundation first.  Our ultimate goal is always to provide your child with the necessary tools to thrive on his/her own.
  • We often tutor using old school methods and explanations.  In fact, typically, the student is not even allowed to pick up a graphing calculator until they first learn to both comprehend and compute the math by hand.
  • We fill in any and all learning gaps before moving forward.  If your child can't explain what he just learned to his tutor, then he's not ready for the next layer of learning.  Every layer is important for building that solid foundation.
  • We often formulate methods of explanation based on the student's personal interests and hobbies.
  • We are intense, but encouraging.  It's hard work, but extremely rewarding.
